About EPIC Cakes
Hello I am Emma Phillips
and welcome to the website for EPIC Cakes.
I am based in Ebbw Vale, South Wales. I studied to
Degree level at Surrey Institute of Art and Design,
where I attained a BA Hons in Animation. This is where I
first started making models, only back then it was using
the medium of plasticine (like the Wallace and Grommit
animated characters), rather than delicious cakes!
For twenty years I have regularly been asked to apply my
skills in model making to decorating novelty cakes for
family and friends, and so decided this was something I
should turn from a hobby into a much rewarding vocation.
For the past 3
years I have been studying sugarcraft, familiarising
myself with the vast range of alternative techniques
which can be applied to the art of cake decorating, as
well as gaining the knowledge needed to apply my
expertise in a safe and hygienic kitchen environment.
So don't be afraid to ask - the
more unusual the better the challenge, and if you think
it can't be done, you're wrong!
The only limit is your imagination. So don't hesitate to
